My Self-Directed Studies of Contemplative Photography
I am a picture taker, a photographer, an artist... in fact, I am all of these things. I take A LOT of photos of (too) many things... I see beauty all around me, even on gloomy, rotten days. Just recently, I was asked to deliver a lesson in a Grade 3 classroom about Georgia O'Keeffe and her art. At the time, I was unfamiliar with both the Lady and her Art. There was something about Her and Her Style of Art that drew me in. And so, I went straight to the library to learn more! That's when I came across a book about contemplative photography, and then, upon further research, I have stumbled upon a whole branch of photography, called Miksang. This site will document my journey through the various lessons and studies involved in this style. IT IS IMPORTANT TO STRESS THAT MY JOURNEY IS A SELF_DIRECTED ONE WITH A SIMPLE DIGITAL CAMERA. THOUGH I WOULD LOVE TO ATTEND THE ACTUAL WORKSHOPS PRESENTED BY LICENSED MIKSANG INSTRUCTORS, AT THIS TIME IT IS NOT FEASIBLE. |
